A pioneer of the British motoring industry Vauxhall rapidly established a reputation for advanced, reliable high performance cars that garnered many competition successes in trial and hill climbs prior to the Great War.
Acquired in 1925 by General Motors to compete with Ford of England and gain a local foothold in the UK market Vauxhall rapidly began to reflect American styling and engineering trends and were the first British production car, with the VY Cadet, to feature a synchromesh gearbox. For export markets such as Australia the VY was re-engineered as the VX which featured the Bedford 3,180cc six cylinder engine, six cylinder cars being seen as essential for Australian conditions, to allow Vauxhall to better compete with American marques.
This VX is an older restoration still in very fine fettle and has been in the same ownership for thirty years. Diligently maintained and well cared for it displays remarkably civilised road manners and is able to cope, in its own dignified manner, with modern traffic. An excellent opportunity to experience Old World Motoring.
